Cabrillo Music Theatre: Broadway in Your Backyard at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

Cabrillo celebrates the start of summer, and the love of our animal friends, with an unforgettable family event from land to sea!

PART OF OUR WORLD!

May 17, 2016…Thousand Oaks, Calif… Land meets Sea when Cabrillo Music Theatre celebrates their upcoming production of THE LITTLE MERMAID with PART OF OUR WORLD!  This free, family-friendly event, a collaboration between Cabrillo Music Theatre, PawWorks.Org, and Sheroes Entertainment, LLC, provides an afternoon of fun, adventure and music, as well as an opportunity to learn about animal adoption – and maybe even take home a new family member!   PART OF OUR WORLD takes place on Saturday, June 11th, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, in Carpenter Park, directly outside Cabrillo Music Theatre’s home venue, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Have your photo taken with a mermaid!  Arts and Crafts!  Face Painting!  Visit with our four-legged friends!  And meet Ariel herself!!

“PART OF OUR WORLD is a perfect example of Cabrillo Music Theatre at our best,” says Lewis Wilkenfeld, Cabrillo Music Theatre’s Artistic Director.   “Thanks to our partnership with Paw Works Animal Rescue, Cabrillo can help find caring homes for the many abandoned pets in our area though the adoption and educational events Paw Works will have in place at every performance of THE LITTLE MERMAID!  Hopefully, a lot of families will leave this event with a new family member!  Because of Sheroes Entertainment, LLC our guests will play games, have creative fun, and meet a Mermaid!  These local partnerships are the very heart of Cabrillo!” Adds Wilkenfeld, “And PART OF OUR WORLD gives us a chance to show off the amazing talent, much of it local, that will be at the heart of Cabrillo’s THE LITTLE MERMAID!”

PART OF OUR WORLD is a full afternoon of family fun.  Paw Works will host a meet & greet event for parents and kids to visit with abandoned pets looking for permanent homes and to learn about animal rescue. The local non-profit organization is dedicated to providing unwanted animals a second chance at life and has rescued more than 1,800 dogs and cats in just over two years.   Sheroes Entertainment, LLC, a locally-based company that provides, among other things, mermaids (and pirates!) for entertainment events, will provide activities for all ages, including an opportunity for your littles ones to try on a mermaid tail, plus face-painting, balloon-making, and much more.  In addition, mermaids and pirates will roam the event, posing for pictures and making new friends!

And, of course, “Ariel” will be there as well, to pose for pictures, greet guests, and introduce a sneak preview of Cabrillo Music Theatre’s all new production of THE LITTLE MERMAID!  Ariel will also lead a community singalong, and present other entertainment as well!  Hungry?  If you didn’t bring your own picnic, local goodies will be available from fun food trucks.  Kona Ice will be on site, providing cold refreshment, with a portion of their sales to be donated back to Cabrillo Music Theatre’s outreach programs.

Admission is free, of course!  Just bring yourself, your family, your picnic blankets and your imagination! Go “Under the Sea” on June 11th, with Cabrillo Music Theatre’s PART OF OUR WORLD.
